What Is A Passport?
It is an official document issued by a government certifying the holder's identity and citizenship and entitling them to travel under its protection to and from foreign countries. Owning a valid passport can open up the windows to the world. Make sure yours is in order well in advance of any international travel you are planning.
It is also wise to consider obtaining a passport card. They remain valid for as long as a passport book. However, they cannot be used for air travel, but for land or sea travel, and only to Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean.
Every person traveling internationally is required to have a valid passport book or card. Prices and length of validity vary for adults (age 16 years and older) and minors (under age 16 years).

A Visa is an endorsement on passport indicating that the holder is allowed to enter, leave, or stay for a specified period of time in a country. Holders of a U.S. passport don't need a U.S. visa for travel and can visit 172 other countries and territories visa-free or with visa on arrival. Visas, however, are needed for many foreign countries. When planning for travel abroad, research requirements by country:
